I have been involved on the Internet for over 13 years now.  In my eyes, these are the 5 most legit ways to make money online:

1. Selling Info Products - This is one of my favorite ways to make money online because people always want information that they can get quickly.  The Internet makes this possible because it saves people from having to go to the local bookstore.  They can literally sit in their pajamas and find the info they are looking for right at their computer.  With that being said, if you have a lot of knowledge (or even some knowledge) about some topic I highly suggest that you write about it! Try to compile a small ebook and sell it online for a small fee.  The main advantage to info products vs. physical products is that you never have to ship anything and it requires virtually no support (especially if the price of your ebook is low).
2. Affiliate Marketing - This is one of the most commonly used methods for Internet marketers to make money online.  Affiliate Marketing has its perks because you never have to deal with supporting or delivering an actual product.  You sign up as an affiliate of some product or service, you market it and make a sale, and you earn a commission (usually 50% to 75%) of the cost of the sale.  Many marketers make up to 6 figures a month using Affiliate Marketing.  One of the best places to learn how to become a professional Affiliate Marketer is at: www.WealthyAffiliate.com.  I personally am a member there (have been for 6 months now) and am very pleased with everything I have learned thus far.  NOTE: If you sign up using my link, I will give you a $30 bonus, absolutley FREE!

Google Adsense - If you have a site with high traffic (no matter what it is about) you can make some decent money with Google Adsense.  There are some simple strategic ways  to set up your adsense on your pages so that they get clicked on.  Here is one of my Adsense sites and it has a very high click ratio as people get confused and think that those ads are actually the links to the site.  Yes there are still a lot of people on the Internet that have no clue what Google Adsense look like…You must take advantage of that.
5. Membership Site - Want to make steady monthly income for doing minimal work? This is one of the best ways to do just that.  If you have a good idea for a website that offers a service or very useful information (that is constantly being updated) then you can convince your visitors to sign up for a monthly subscription.  Let’s say you were charging only $4.99/month for your subscription…That might not sound like a lot to you but let’s say you had 100 subscribers to your site.  That is nearly $500/month from that one site that is now running on auto-pilot! Let’s say you get 5 subscription sites up with an average of 100 subscribers on each…then that is $2500/month you could be earning!  A lot of big inernet money makers use this technique and I highly recommend it if you have a good enough idea to sell for a monthly cost.

2. Do you like computers and the Internet? Are you Internet savvy? Many people ask themselves this and don’t feel like they are geeky enough to be successful on the Internet.  I am here to tell you that you don’t need to be a complete computer geek in order to be successful online! It obviously will benefit you if you know more about computers and the Internet but it isn’t required.  All you need is some basic knowledge to get you started.  The important thing is that you like computers and the Internet.  Learning more can always come later, which brings us to my next point.
3. Are you willing to learn? This is by far the most important step for starting a web business.   This doesn’t apply to online businesses only.  If you aren’t willing to learn (in any industry) you won’t be successful, period.  I personally am researching and learning everyday from the best of the best online marketers out there.  I have a series of different websites bookmarked that I constantly refer to where I can learn new things.  I don’t know what I would do without these learning resources.  If you have a passion to learn then you are that much further to starting a successful online business.

Why “research” you may ask? Keep in mind, that research isn’t done only online.  Research can be conducted in our everyday lives.  With that being said, we should always be paying close attention for research opportunities.  Research can be found in a magazine, in a book, in conversations with friends or family.

The key is to make researching a habit and part of your everyday lifestyle.

Just yesterday I was watching T.V. and saw a bunch of great tips about fashion…and I said to myself, “Some of those tips might be great for Article Marketing.”  My brain has simply adjusted to what I do everyday, marketing.

There are several different ways to promote both online and offline.  The most commons ways are listed here:

1. Article Marketing - Write and submit articles to ezinearticles.com (This is by far the best article directory website out there).  The better your article directory where you submit your articles, the higher your articles will be ranked with Google.
2. Be active on other Blogs - Add your own blog URL and description in your signature and then write good comments on other blogs.  This will help you get some quick recognition.
3. Online Groups - Try and target the right audience in these online groups.  Communicate with people that will have an interest in your type of blog.
4. Create Squidoo Lenses and/or Hubpages - Just like ezinearticles.com, these two sites (squidoo.com and hubpages.com) get very good rankings with Google.  With that being said, if you create a good squidoo lense or hubpage and reference them back to your blog you may get some high traffic.
5. Create an Email List - This is probably the most efficient way to get people to continue to come back to your blog.  With that being said, you should create a very clear and easy way to subscribe to your email list.  I HIGHLY recommend Aweber to get you started with your email list.  They have been around for quite some time and offer the most reliable and easy-to-use email list management system that I have seen.
6. Do Keyword Research - This is very important and will help you to get high on Google.  You want to target keywords that get searched but still have low competition.  The best program that I have used to do my keyword research is Micro Niche Finder.  Having this program gives you a competitive edge over other Internet Marketers out there and you will be able to dominate many different keywords/niche markets.
7. Cross-Linking and Backlinking - If you have a website or social networking profile (such as MySpace or Facebook) it would be a good idea to advertise your blog there.  Not only will this help people find your blog directly but it will also create more backlinks for your blog.

This may seem like a lot of work to you; however, if you focus on one of these at a time and learn to perfect it you will see great results.

How I promote my Sites and Blogs:

I personally focus more on #1 and #5.  If you are a decent writer or can hire a part-time writer you will have a lot of success with Article Marketing.  The most important tip for any online marketer is #5 (Creating an Email List).  This is essential!  If you want to have success with online marketing and want to get consistent traffic to your sites and/or online products, you need to start creating an email list, period.  An email list is like having a bunch of customers at your front door who you can promote your current or upcoming products to whenever you wish (as long as you don’t bother them too much to where they want to block you).  Aweber is by far the best place to get you started with your email list.  If you look at any popular website that has an email form you will almost always find that they use Aweber.  There is a reason for that!

There are some very basic tips that you want to consider whenever you create your websites.  Keep these simple SEO Web Design Tips in mind whenever you create your websites/web pages:

1) Google loves unique Titles

2) Google loves unique Content

3) Google loves unique Descriptions and Keywords

Out of those 3 things, content is by far the most important for achieving good rankings with Google.  If you are pulling content from some other source and are duplicating it in any way you won’t rank well with Google.

It is ideal that you target a specific keyword (one that has relatively high search volume and low competition) and you build your page in such a way that it targets that keyword.  For example:

Let’s say your keyword is: ‘how to lose weight before your wedding’

The title of your page should read something like this: How to Lose Weight Before Your Wedding in 10 Easy Steps

Your meta keywords should not be spammed in anyway, shape or form.  You should have one, maybe two keywords for each page.  In this case your meta keyword will be: how to lose weight before your wedding.

As far as your description, you should also make this unique and relative to your keyword.  An example of this is: “I will teach you how to lose weight before your wedding the right way in 10 easy steps.”

As far as your content goes, you want to write about 2 to 3 good chunky paragraphs for your page that talk about how to lose weight before your wedding in 10 Easy Steps.  However, you DON’T want to spam the keyword in your content.  Chances are Google won’t like that very much.  I recommend placing your keyword once at the beginning of your block of content, and one at the end of your content.  If you have a lot of content, maybe throw one in the middle.  If you have images it might be a good idea to throw some alt tags in there as well (that are relative to your keyword).
